Angelic Knights is merging with Legion

Yes, it's the end of an era folks. After struggling along for several months with never quite enough raiders and yet still somehow managing to make good progress eventually, AK have decided to merge with Legion.  This aim is to create the largest and best 3 night end-game raiding guild on Draenor and social members will also benefit from the larger pool of players.

AK members please read the announcement on the message boards for further details.

Recruitment is suspended

AK are currently talking to another guild about a possible merger.  Whilst this process is ongoing we are not actively recruiting new raiders.  If you are a friend or relative of an existing member you are still free to apply to join.

Recruitment - several dps & two healers

With the more challenging last 3 bosses now our targets in ICC25, we are looking to acquire several more dps to replace some recent leavers and retiring raiders, and strengthen our healing team

We are therefore looking for several recruits who can step straight into our main raid team.  You must know your class, have good situational awareness, a team-working attitude and be geared and experienced enough for ICC25 content.  We raid 3 nights per week, on Thursday, Sunday and Tuesday, from 19.30 to 23.30 server time and would like you to be able to sign for all raids but at least 2 out of every 3 raids on average is the minimum commitment you must be able to make.

Specifically we now seek (list updated 7 May):

   Rogue
   Enhancement Shaman
   Warlock
   Mage
   Resto Shaman and/or Resto druid
   Dual spec Holy/Disc Priest

Please use the "Application" link on the left hand menu if you think you meet our requirements, can offer what we need and would like to enjoy raiding successfully with us.

Patricide

The daddy is dead!  On what was basically only our 2nd serious night attempting this boss, we finally got him down.  Ok it took 14 attempts but steady progress was made throughout the evening with some great raid leading by Vormegon and eventually the teamwork started to click.  Very well done to all that were there this evening, especially the support players that filled in for the raiders who left recently but also to the regular raiders who have stayed loyal.

Our progress in ICC25 now stands at 9 out of 12 which is great news indeed!

Dream on

After a very efficient farm clearance of the first 7 bosses in ICC25 last Thursday (no doubt helped by the patched zone buff!) we settled in to work on the Valithria Dreamwalker encounter.  After some learning attempts on Sunday we returned on Tuesday hungry for progress.  We tweaked a few things and were eventually rewarded with a successful rescue as the tanks and dps kept the adds down whilst our healers restored the dragon to full health.

Our progress in ICC25 now stands at 8 out of 12 which is starting to look quite respectable!

Next target will likely be Queen Lana'thel and then the other end of wing bosses in the Upper Spire so that we have more sources of Sanctified T10 tokens for our raiders to upgrade the standard T10 gear they worked so hard to farm badges for and purchase, but in the meantime well done to all in the team on our latest progress.

Dead, dead, dead...   Daddy we (finally) killed them!

6 weeks is waaayyyy too long to go without some progress, but after a bit of a lull due to a shortage of quality raiders, a few new recruits plus some much improved performances from other members finally bore fruit this week, with not one, not two, but THREE new first kills in Icecrown Citadel for the AK 25man raid team. :D

First Rotface was finally defeated (after more attempts than I care to remember!) on Sunday 21 Feb and then tonight (23 Feb) we returned with a better mix of healing classes and his ugly brother Festergut bit the dust as well.  Buoyed up by this succcess we left their dad alone and went to sort out the Blood Princes.  The first few attempts were promising and sure enough after a couple more practices success soon followed.

Well done to all in the raid team this week.  A great week for the guild and we now look forward to consolidating our progress plus new challenges after the reset.

Death? Bring it on!

It took a few attempts but after making a some adjustments to the way we handle the adds, the final boss of the first ICC wing had death brought to him by the AK raid team on January 5th.

A nice start to the new year and we now march on into the Plague Wing which holds some rather more tricky challenges.

Funship battle

After struggling on Lady Deathwhisper last week, we set quite a pace on this week's Sunday ICC raid, one-shotting Marrowgar, 2-shotting Deathwhisper and then going on to a successful first ever attempt (for our 25man team) at the Icecrown Gunship Battle.  It's certainly a fun fight, although a certain guild leader rogue watched half of it whilst having a lie down on the enemy ship after its captain ignored our tank and took a bit of a dislike to him.  Maybe I looked at him a bit funnily whilst dps'ing the battle mage, i dunno.  Anyway, Vormegon jumped into my cannon spot and under his raid leadership the enemy ship eventually went down in flames.

Sadly Deathbringer Saurfang remains alive so we haven't quite cleared the Lower Spire part of ICC before our official Christmas raiding break which lasts from 23 December to 2 January but it was still a good end to the year.

The AK raid team will be back in action on Sunday 3 January so until then I would like to wish a very Merry Christmas to all our guild members.  I hope you've all enjoyed your gaming time in the guild during 2009 and will continue to do so as we move into 2010.

Pssst!  I'm dead!

It took a bit longer than we expected, but the Lady is no more, and the AK raid team celebrated by standing on the terraces taunting her supporters with chants of "You're not whispering any more".  No, not really.  Anyway, our next challenge is the gunship battle which looks like a load of fun tbh.

Lording it up

3.3 is out and on our first visit to the Icecrown Citadel it took a few attempts to get the hang of it but we were eventually successful in defeating Lord Marrowgar, the first of the 4 bosses in The Lower Spire.

LF more Heroes

AK's focus right now is to make progress in heroic mode Coliseum.

Currently we have 2 bosses down in heroic 10man, but no success yet in 25man TotGC due mainly to lacking some key dps spots in the team.  Therefore we are specifically looking to recruit the following:

   1x rogue
   1x boomkin
   1x elemental shaman
   1x feral dps druid

but we are open to applications from experienced and well-geared players of any class to strengthen our team so please use the link on the left hand menu if you think you meet our requirements and can offer what we need.

What A Nub

Slightly late with my update here, but on 1 October after quite a few attempts, AK's rebuilt raid team continued its recent progress by defeating Anub'arak, the last boss in 25man Coliseum (normal version).

We will be concentrating on farming content and gear to strengthen the raid team for the next couple of weeks before moving on to the heroic version of the Coliseum.

Owdoo

And now new progress too!

The guild has undergone some significant changes in recent weeks.  After long and distinguished service to AK, former guild leader Murasame has decided to retire and his appointed successor is Owdoo.  The guild officer team has been revamped and refocused around the raid team.  A lot of effort has been put into fixing some of the issues that we have suffered from in the last year with the aim of increasing everyone's enjoyment of the time we devote to playing this great game.

We have recruited quite a few new raiders to replace some leavers and re-build the raid team back to 25 man strength.  Tonight saw our first raid back into 25 man Coliseum where we felt we had a good chance of defeating the previous blockage that was the Faction Champions.  It took a few attempts to get it sorted but we finally conquered them.  Buoyed up by our success we then went on to down the Twin Valkyrs and will be returning next raid night to have a crack at Anub'arak.

Well done to all involved!  A kill shot will hopefully follow once I get hold of one.

After our recent recruitment drive we are now not looking for any specific classes but will consider exceptional applications from well geared and experience raiders.  If you feel you fit into this category, feel free to click on "Application" in the left hand menu and follow the instructions.

New content. New bosses. New ways to die...

So with the release of 3.2 came Trial of the Crusade with new bosses. We managed to take down The beasts of Northrend and Lord Jaraxxus after a few attempts without to many problems. But those Champions well lets not go to much into that and just leave it at their healers are good.

So with summer nearly over and the raid team disappearing we have decided that doing 2 teams in Ulduar 10 was the way forward, so we were able to keep raiding as a guild. Both groups have managed to do many of the hard modes and we are reaching Yogg and making great progress on getting him down, hopefully this reset will see at least one of the teams kill him.

We are now rebuilding our raid team for the Autumn raiding period and welcome quality applications by well geared and experienced players of all classes.  However in particular we are currently looking for -
2 x Shamans (Resto and Elemental)
     1 x Druid (Resto)
     2 x Priest (Shadow)
     1 x Hunter

General Disarray

With Mimiron dead we have worked on getting the farmed bosses in Ulduar dead as quick as possible in order to give the most amount of time on General Vezax and Yoggy. As such we raced through the content this week one-shotting everything that came our way and leaving plenty of time to visit the general, who turns out to be a giat douche. However, after a night or so of tweaking we got him down, leaving the door open for Yogg Saron and the pain in the arse that he is.

We've also started to have a play with some bosses hard modes and achievements, with Flame Leviathen + 1 tower being retardely easy and the Nine Lives achievements on Auriya being equally so (well, if not for us wiping at 300k :/)

Currently we wouldn't mind adding another Resto Shaman to the force and would also be interested in a Discipline Priest, as they are cool. We will also consider applications from solid ranged dps.

Mega Zord Down!

So it comes to this - with all the "easy" bosses behind us we head towards the cockblock that is Mimiron. Wed had a joke look at him before and one of our 10 man teams had killed him the night before so we were mildly confident we good get the sod... and we did. After the obligatory learning attempts (RUN OUT OF THE SHOCKBLAST! DONT STAND ON THE MINES! STAND BEHIND IT WHEN IT SPINS UP! DONT FEED THE BOMB BOTS!) we got the hang of it and after tweaking the raid composition slightly we got him - granted not very cleanly (phase 4 hates melee) but dead none the less and Im sure as hell counting this as a first night kill. There was probably loot but I wasnt really paying attention at this point due to being deafened by the victory rawr. This left us an hour to go look at The General, and few ninja pulls on trash later we had time to tickle him once or twice.

Plans for the future - the same as last week, BUT QUICKER!

(note - I got bored of the screenshots looking rubbish due to being made in Power Point so Im experimenting with photoshop - check out the bitching lighting effect on the writing! arnt I pr0....)

Finders Keepers

Carrying on with Blizzards new approach to gaming, i.e. lagfree, we went in and hit Ulduar hard. The farmed bosses (the first six, Auriaya and Freya) can now all be killed in one night easily, in fact, we went one step further and killed Hodir as well, meaning we are killing 9 on the first night of the week - which is pretty good going and leaves us alot of time to work on the other bosses.

First target was Thorim, who was, suprisingly, a complete pain in the arse. Previous attempts on him had been lagfests and yielded no progress whatsover, and neither did the first block of attempts on him - whatever we tried, the arena was overrun. Turns out the tactic that worked for us was not one other people seem to use - Ignore the Dark Rune Champions and just kill the Dark Rune Evokers as priority - turns out the champions are only a threat after they've been buffed by three evokers... anyhoo, with that Thorim went down fairly easily (though we did have a few interesting wipes involving chain lightning chaining through a summoned ghoul army and then one shotting most of the raid!).

As such our focus is now on Mimiron and the absolute joy his encounter will be...

Recruitment wise we may actually have our Enhancement Shaman now after 3 months of searching (hazaaa) but are now looking for:

1 x Shadow Priest.

As always, we will always consider solid applications from any class or spec.

Freya Dead... Well, Not Dead... You Get The Idea

Finally! A non-lagfest raid and Freya went down! Woot! (note - the kill shot is one I found on google, we didnt take one). We then went to have a looksy at Mimiron (for shits) and managed to get him to phase 3 with the remainder of the raid, which was nice - we've still got it! Next week well hopefully add Hodir and Thorim to the list!

AK are still recruiting an ENHANCEMENT SHAMAN and would like to get their hands on a DISCIPLINE PRIEST too.

Murasame Can Edit The AK Frontpage!

Expect more regular front page updates including important things such as what I had for lunch, my hopes, dreams and fears. Much love  to our ever absent admin Khouri for the privaledge.

AK are still recruiting an ENHANCEMENT SHAMAN and would like to get their hands on a DISCIPLINE PRIEST too.

No kitty that's a BAD KITTY!

Two updates in one month you lucky people! Carrying on from the success
of last weeks Ulduar reset we entered this week full of hope, and after
destroying Leviathan and XT we heroically lagged out and had to cancel (GG BLIZZ!).

Right - trying again in the next run we had slightly more luck and managed
to kill Ignis the Furnace master with little to no effort (go go nerfs).
After clearing the rest of the farmed bosses we headed over to the
Council of Iron, and after some fannying about with tactics killed them too!

Last raid of the reset and we head to Auriaya http://yeoltest.ytmnd.com/.
With only one hunter in raid the pull was somewhat interesting and after a
few instawipes we settled on a nice way to do it.
Following this we messed around with tactics until again we found one we
liked and lo and behold, she went down - the loot ironically going
to Soda and Sgtpepper, our two standins.

With the last bit of the raid we went and had a look at Thorim, which,
from my point of view, is a stupid fight - but I suspect he will die next reset.

AK are still recruiting an ENHANCEMENT SHAMAN and would like another
healer HOLY PRIEST/RESTO SHAMAN/HOLY PALADIN.

Kill them all... before they kill you...

Time for another belated update of the front page. With Patch 3.1 finally here
we have taken our first looks inside Ulduar and Blizzard's first truly new dungeon
for a long time - and I have to say it's awesome! The bosses actually seem difficult,
heck, we wiped on trash!

First step in there and Flame Leviathan died with not too much trouble, but we cant
complain as the fight is FUUUUUUUUUUN.

XT-002 Deconstructor took a little more effort, including a 0.2% wipe,
a new AK record! But we took him down too after messing with the
positioning a little. Bonus points to Blizz for its creepy voice.

Razorscale also bit the dust without too much trouble -
again, kudos to Blizz for an interesting fight!

Our first real challenge was when we ventured inside Ulduar. After being beaten
silly by the trash (stupid leaping colossi) we then set our sights on Kologarn
(didnt fancy taking on the bugfest that was Ignis at this point). The fight itself
seemed ridiculously difficult at first but after playing with tactics for a while
we managed to turn him into a bridge! Again a very interesting encounter and very
cool graphics!

With the interior of Ulduar open to use we are now spoilt for choice on where to head
next so will have a peek at some bosses before going further!

All in all a pretty good start to the new patch and happily back to semi-taxing raiding!

AK are currently recruiting 1 x Enhancement Shaman and would also consider
applications from Ret Paladins, Holy Paladins, Disc. Priests and Death Knights!

WRATH IS HERE!

And its only taken me 2 months to update the front page (sorry, sorry). Since the
expansion hit, much has gone on in AK - first grats must go to Hashey for being the
first 80 paladin on ther server and recieving the title!

After Hashey the rest of us slowly caught up, immediatly going into and clearing
10man Sarth, then 10man Naxx - following this we took some steps into 25mans
clearing Sarth and then Naxx.

The only things left for us now are killing Malygos (whose glitchyness has hampered
our progress - didnt realise dragons could make breath attacks out of their arse)
and then Sarth + Drakes, and hopefully these will be achieved within the coming weeks.

Recruitment: 1 x Elemental Shaman, 1 x Doomkin (Balance Druid)

Happy New Year!

With the new year it was time to move old news off the front page.
But fear not! You can still see the history of great ole AK.
